Vice President Kamala Harris had a bit of a mix-up at a recent event in North Carolina. Instead of the usual anthem played for the vice president, “Hail Columbia,” the wrong anthem, “Hail to the Chief,” began playing. Oh boy, someone got their wires crossed! As you may know, “Hail to the Chief” is reserved for the commander in chief, the president. But I guess they wanted to give Vice President Harris a taste of what it’s like to be the big boss.
Now, we can’t say for sure whether this blunder was the fault of the White House staff or the university staff. But one thing’s for sure, the song got cut off before it could even finish, leaving everyone hanging for about 16 agonizing seconds. Talk about awkward!
Despite the musical mishap, Harris carried on like a true pro. She gave her speech to the Aggies without even mentioning the anthem incident. Well, I guess when you’re vying for the title of the first female president, a little anthem mix-up is just a minor speed bump on the campaign trail.
Speaking of the campaign trail, this visit was part of Harris’ college tour, where she’s trying to win over the hearts and minds of young voters. She’s hitting all the hot topics for the Democrats: abortion, gun control, LGBT rights, and climate change. You know, the usual. But let’s not get too caught up in all that. We still have a long way to go until the 2024 election, and there’s no telling what will happen!
One thing’s for sure, though. If Biden does win reelection and completes his second term, he’ll be a whopping 86 years old! That’s older than your grandma’s grandma. So naturally, people are speculating about the possibility of Harris becoming the de facto commander in chief if something were to happen to ol’ Joe before then. It’s a political game of “what if,” my friends, and anything can happen in the wild world of politics.
While Biden is currently up against a couple of other Democratic candidates in his quest for a second term, we all know that Harris has her eyes set on the top spot. This anthem mishap might just be a sign of things to come. Who knows, maybe we’ll be hearing “Hail to the Chief” for her someday. It’s a crazy world out there, folks. Stay tuned!
