On Friday, New Mexico’s Democratic Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham made a shocking move by suspending the Second Amendment rights of Albuquerque citizens under the guise of a “public health” emergency. This is just another example of the overreach of power by liberal politicians who do not value the rights of law-abiding citizens. It is clear that Grisham believes she knows better than the people she is supposed to represent.

In a particularly egregious statement, Grisham went as far as saying that lawful concealed carry holders should be arrested for simply walking down the street. This is a direct attack on the rights of responsible gun owners and a clear violation of the U.S. Constitution. While Grisham may claim that her duty to uphold the Constitution is “not absolute,” it should be clear to anyone with common sense that the right to bear arms is a fundamental part of our founding principles.

Unsurprisingly, the people of New Mexico and beyond were outraged by this tyrannical decision. Many have called for Grisham to be impeached and even jailed for her blatant unconstitutional move. It is refreshing to see that at least one Sheriff has taken a stand against this edict and has pledged not to enforce it. It is a shame that more politicians are not willing to fight for the rights of the American people.
