A recent poll conducted by YouGov, a pollster known for its tendency to lean left, has unveiled a striking consensus among Americans – a whopping 73 percent expressing strong support for President-elect Donald Trump’s ambitious plans for mass deportations of illegal aliens. The survey’s results, circulated by CBS News, reveal that a significant portion of the public, specifically 45 percent, considers these deportations to be a high priority, while an additional 28 percent rate it as a medium priority.
Even amidst concerns about the economy, where lowering costs of goods and services ranked slightly higher with 79 percent viewing it as crucial, the public sentiment remains crystal clear on immigration. Just five percent of respondents dismissed the importance of addressing the costs, as did 27 percent with regard to deportations. Clearly, Americans are ready for a comprehensive approach to immigration reform that prioritizes rule of law over chaos.

In even more noteworthy findings, 57 percent of Americans back Trump’s call for a nationwide initiative aimed at deporting all illegal aliens within U.S. borders. By this measure, the YouGov results align closely with another post-election poll from Rasmussen, which revealed that 76 percent of Americans favor deportation plans. The seriousness of the issue is reflected in 50 percent of respondents categorizing it as “very important,” while 26 percent labeled it as “somewhat” a priority, leaving only a small minority who argued it was unimportant.
Trump is ready to hit the ground running, planning to reinstate various immigration executive orders that were hastily rescinded by President Biden on his first day in office back in January 2021. Among the crowd-pleasing actions on his agenda is the revival of the popular “Remain in Mexico” policy, which mandates that asylum seekers wait outside the U.S. while their claims are processed. This is a stark contrast to Biden’s preferred catch-and-release strategy, which often allows illegal aliens to roam freely through the country, putting national security at risk.
Hitting hard on criminals and those illegal aliens who have ignored deportation orders is set to be the administration’s first priority, as incoming Border Czar Tom Homan has indicated. With millions of individuals who fall into those categories scattered throughout the U.S., many also currently reside in prisons, the task is daunting but essential. Additionally, Trump aims to target businesses that prioritize hiring illegal aliens over American workers, adding another layer of accountability to the American labor market. It looks like the Trump administration plans to take bold steps to ensure that U.S. laws are respected and enforced.
