Rand Paul, the Republican senator from Kentucky, is taking his feud with Dr. Anthony Fauci to a whole new level. Paul has filed a criminal referral with the Department of Justice, accusing Fauci of lying during his Senate testimony. The alleged lie centers around whether or not the US funded “gain-of-function” research on viruses. Fauci has vehemently denied that the US funded this research, but Paul claims to have evidence that proves otherwise.
Paul points to an email from February 2020 as his smoking gun. In the email, Fauci discusses a call with a British medical researcher who expressed concern about the unnatural mutations found in the virus. According to Paul, this email contradicts Fauci’s sworn testimony that the US did not fund gain-of-function research. Paul is confident that he has caught Fauci in a lie and has referred the matter to the DOJ.

As a conservative Republican, it’s easy to see why Rand Paul feels vindicated in his pursuit of the truth. He has been questioning Fauci’s credibility for months and now believes he has the evidence to support his claims. It’s refreshing to see a politician holding another accountable, especially when it comes to matters as serious as public health and national security. Hopefully, this referral will lead to a proper investigation and justice will be served.
Unfortunately, in today’s political climate, it’s hard to have confidence in the DOJ’s willingness to investigate Fauci. It seems that they are more focused on protecting those in power and prosecuting those who oppose their narrative. But we must stay hopeful that come 2025, with a new administration in place, justice will prevail. The American people deserve to know the truth and see those who have lied and covered up their actions held accountable.
Rand Paul’s efforts should be commended. He is doing important work in exposing the truth and fighting for transparency. We need more politicians like him who are willing to challenge the status quo and hold those in power accountable. Let’s hope that his pursuit of justice pays off in the end.
