Amid the global turmoil, which includes conflicts like the Israel-Hamas war and the Ukraine-Russia tension, it's disturbing to discover that the nation's secretary of defense went missing for several days without anyone taking notice. It's quite unbelievable, isn't it?
As it turns out, the secretary of defense was undergoing cancer treatments in the hospital, but surprisingly, there was no effort to inform Congress or the president. This raises serious concerns about the trustworthiness of our defense when the person in charge can vanish without a trace.

A certain individual named John Kirby, the United States National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, attempted to downplay the situation. However, Kirby's explanations did little to alleviate the worries of those who recognize the significance of the secretary of defense being present and accounted for.
During an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation," host Margaret Brennan posed tough questions, rightly questioning why the secretary of defense remained in the hospital if capable of working. Kirby's response was that the secretary of defense was following doctor's orders and required additional care. Nevertheless, the question remains: should our national defense be led by someone who can perform their duties rather than working from a hospital bed?
What's even more outrageous is that President Biden allegedly had no knowledge that his defense secretary was hospitalized for days. Shouldn't the commander-in-chief be informed about such critical matters? It appears there's a significant lack of communication within the Biden administration.
Kirby attempted to defend the communication breakdown by stating that cabinet officials don't need to communicate daily to make decisions. But isn't there a chain of command? Isn't the defense secretary meant to be the president's top adviser on defense matters? This oversight issue is deeply troubling.
Even Kirby acknowledged that this situation was a "problem," yet there seem to be no consequences in the Biden administration. Our adversaries are observing, likely finding amusement at our expense.
It's high time for the Biden administration to take this matter seriously and ensure that our nation's defense apparatus functions properly. We cannot afford to have our defense secretary disappear without a trace while the world faces escalating challenges. It's time to prioritize America's security and address these concerns promptly!
