During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Cotton wasted no time in highlighting the disastrous track record of the administration. According to him, under the joint command of Biden and Harris, the nation has spiraled into chaos, and Harris at the helm would make things even worse.
It seems that being compared to Joe Biden—a man whose gaffes are so frequent they merit a bloopers reel—isn’t a compliment, but Cotton seemed to relish making the distinction. He pointed out that Harris’ record isn’t just bad; it raises the stakes to a level that should make every American pay attention. The senator argued that Harris’ policies would leave a lasting mark on the country that could take generations to reverse, making even Biden’s approach look like a walk in the park.
Cotton’s comments came in response to former President Trump’s recent address at the Turning Point Action’s Believers Summit. During the event, Trump, showcasing his usual flair for theatrics, made a tongue-in-cheek comment about voters not needing to go to the polls if he regains the White House. Cotton defended Trump’s jest, emphasizing that it was an exaggerated analogy of just how dreadful things have become under Biden’s leadership. He reminded listeners that during Trump’s presidency, peace prevailed, the economy thrived, and the American spirit was restored.
The senator also let loose on Harris’ radical agenda, accusing her of wanting to take away Americans’ guns, eliminate private health insurance, put an end to fossil fuel production, and yes, even ban plastic straws. This litany of leftist proposals has set off alarm bells among conservatives, and Cotton was quick to shine a light on what he terms a growing threat to the American way of life. He portrayed Harris not just as an individual politician but as a symbol of the liberal agenda ready to roll back the freedoms conservatives hold dear.

On the other side of the aisle, Harris’ campaign is already gearing up to counter this assault, claiming her vision for freedom clashes dramatically with what they see as Trump’s dangerous bid for power. Their narrative paints her as the defender against what they claim is Trump’s authoritarian ambition. Yet, the gap between their defensiveness and Cotton’s stark reality-check may not be as bridgeable as they’d like to think. As Harris steps into the role of presumed Democratic nominee with Biden sidelined, the battle lines are being drawn, and the stakes have never been higher for American voters.
