The Defense Digital Service (DDS), once hailed as the Department of Defense’s bridge to tech innovation, is on the brink of collapse. Bureaucratic bungling and misplaced priorities have led this once-promising project into a dead end. The so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is driving its staff out the door, proving yet again that when government meddles, competence flees.
DDS was formed with an ambitious mission to bring cutting-edge private sector technology and expertise into the defense landscape. Yet, under current liberal leadership, this mission has been utterly sidelined. All 14 members of the DDS team are now stepping down, unwilling to waste their talents in a system that openly disempowers them. DDS’s Director lamented how they were expecting collaboration with DOGE, only to find themselves rendered irrelevant. It was a choice of dying quickly or slowly—but the hammer fell anyway, thanks to inefficiencies and an administration that prefers red tape to results.
Insiders have revealed that instead of embracing technological advancement, DOGE pursued hiring freezes, reversed support for remote work, and slapped on travel restrictions. Rather than leveraging DDS’s innovation prowess, they chose to choke it. It’s another case of top-down decision-making that prioritizes bureaucratic control over actual progress.
There’s more: An audit discovered disturbing misconduct within DDS’s leadership, where unauthorized tools were used, sidestepping vital cybersecurity protocols. While liberals tout their digital competence, here’s the reality—they exposed sensitive information to serious risks. The dogged push for unauthorized software shows a disregard for both policy and national security. Yet, this mess is what they call “progressive leadership.”

Meanwhile, former Pentagon officials are raising alarms, accusing DOGE of tearing down rather than building up. They claim the bare minimum of work is being done in the name of efficiency, not leveraging critical technologies like AI to their full potential. Instead of boosting national security, they’re smashing the tools that could make a difference. It’s government overreach at its worst, prioritizing power grabs over keeping America safe.
Incompetence, it seems, knows no bounds in the liberal playbook. As DDS disintegrates, one has to wonder: When will we learn that allowing bureaucrats to dictate innovation is a recipe for disaster? This is another chapter in the fallout of government overreach, and America deserves better.
