After allegedly contracting COVID-19 and seeking refuge at his Delaware beach house, Joe Biden’s potential withdrawal from the race became a topic of heated speculation. Even betting markets reflected the growing probability of Biden dropping out.
Some cautionary words were offered, pointing out that Biden had expressed his intention to exit if confronted with a medical issue. However, it is still too early to celebrate any potential withdrawal.
There are numerous factors that suggest Biden will stay in the race, at least for the time being. First, it’s hard to believe that Jill Biden would willingly concede the White House before exhausting every possible avenue. Additionally, there is a long list of individuals who are financially dependent on Biden’s candidacy and would not want to relinquish their livelihoods so easily. Furthermore, leaving the presidential race would require Biden to resign from the presidency as well. It begs the question – how can someone be deemed too senile to run for president but not too senile to hold the highest office?
The complex series of events that would need to unfold for Biden to withdraw are almost inconceivable.
And it seems my suspicions were not unfounded, as Biden’s handlers responded vehemently on Thursday. RedState reported that a senior administration official explicitly refuted claims of Biden’s impending exit, emphasizing the possibility of his resuming campaigning as early as next week.
Not to be outdone, White House coffee boy Andrew Bates joined the fray, launching a forthright public rebuttal.
Now, in a new development, Biden’s handlers are becoming even more ruthless. According to an NBC News report, a “source close to Biden” threw Barack Obama, Chuck Schumer, and Nancy Pelosi under the bus. The source blamed them for Donald Trump’s victory in 2016, asserting that their decision to promote Hillary Clinton was misguided.

“Let’s not forget that these same individuals now trying to push Joe Biden out were the ones who essentially gifted us Donald Trump. In 2015, Obama, Pelosi, and Schumer sidelined Biden in favor of Hillary. They were wrong then, and they are wrong now,” the source disclosed to NBC News.
Yikes.

The source cited polling from the 2016 election, which consistently placed Clinton in the lead by a comfortable margin, proving that relying on polls is a futile exercise. Furthermore, the source hinted that Biden, perhaps more than the Obama-Pelosi-Schumer trio, possesses a deeper understanding of the concerns and desires of everyday Americans.
With this latest revelation, it appears highly unlikely that Biden is on the verge of dropping out. As before, it’s important to acknowledge that factors beyond the president’s own desires are at play here. Jill Biden has shown no indication of relinquishing the luxurious life she enjoys as the spouse of a high-ranking politician. Additionally, an extensive network of campaign staff and administration insiders stands to lose its privileged positions if Biden exits the race.
Moreover, Biden’s own ego is a formidable obstacle to consider. He would never want to be remembered as someone who gave up when facing off against Trump. And while dropping out would likely result in blame being shifted to him if Kamala Harris were to lose, Biden is determined to maintain a facade of dignity.
Yet, despite all this, it seems counterproductive for Biden’s team to launch attacks against prominent figures within the Democratic Party. If their actions lead to the implosion of the party, a November defeat is all but certain. So what is truly gained by such actions?
The entire situation has devolved into an unbelievable mess. While my experience with politics may not be extensive, I have never witnessed anything quite like this. Democrats are facing an impossible predicament, though it appears few are willing to recognize this reality just yet.
