Trump Accuses Kamala Harris of Plagiarizing Campaign Idea on Eliminating Taxes on Tips

Former President Donald Trump has struck again, taking aim at Vice President Kamala Harris for allegedly plagiarizing one of his campaign ideas. Harris, in a recent announcement, has thrown her support behind eliminating federal taxes on tips for service workers, including those in the restaurant and hospitality industries. In a dazzling display of political gymnastics, she has tried to claim the mantle of protector for the so-called “working families of America,” all while stepping on Trump’s well-tread toes.

Harris, in her speech, emphasized her commitment to these working families, vowing to raise the minimum wage and eliminate taxes on tips should she achieve presidential power. This bold claim, however, has the faint whiff of desperation, especially since she is attempting to capitalize on an idea that was already out in the wild thanks to Trump, who had been advocating for the tax elimination well before Harris even dusted off her running shoes for 2024.

The guy who notoriously ended up in the middle of various viral supermarket runs a few years back also touted his thoughts on abolishing income taxes entirely, favoring tariffs on imports as a wiser fiscal substitute. One could argue that both leaders hitting the campaign trail in Nevada doesn’t seem like a mere coincidence, but more like strategic talent scouting at a bad impersonation contest.

In a classic Trump move, he took to Truth Social to sound the alarm on Harris’s copycat antics. Trump pointed out that not only has Harris borrowed this idea, but she has also dashed off from critiquing it—turning her critiques into espoused support as she flounders in approval ratings. Her purported commitment to ditching taxes appears more like a late-night infomercial selling the “latest and greatest” policy idea that seems a little too good to be true.

To make matters even more comical, Harris had previously lambasted Trump’s proposal by claiming he was just feathering the nests of billionaires while threatening critical social welfare programs like Social Security and Medicare. One has to wonder if she was simply trying to distract from her own tangled web of policy proposals by flipping the script when it came to tipping. The irony here is that while she seeks to reposition herself as the champion of the working class, her entire career has been rife with contradictions that often leave the average American scratching their heads.

It’s clear that Harris finds herself in a tight spot, trying to maintain relevancy while simultaneously embracing an idea championed by someone with whom she has often butted heads. As Trump chugs along, driving home the message that his ideas remain original to him, one has to wonder how far Harris is willing to stretch her credibility to chase her aspirations.
