Allison Greenfield, the New York State law clerk who found herself in hot water with former President Donald Trump, has some interesting political connections of her own. It turns out that Greenfield is not only a former Democrat candidate but also a generous donor to local Democratic causes. Talk about a political bias!
The controversy began when Trump, always the Twitter warrior, criticized Greenfield for a photo she took with none other than Chuck Schumer, the Democratic senator from New York. Trump, in his usual fashion, called her “Schumer’s girlfriend” and suggested that she was somehow influencing the case against him. Well, it seems like someone got their feathers ruffled.
In response to Trump’s social media post, New York State Judge Arthur Engoron issued a gag order, preventing the former president from saying anything further about his staff. Engoron apparently thought Trump’s comments were a personal attack on Greenfield, and he wasn’t having any of it. Talk about stifling free speech!
But it doesn’t stop there. Greenfield had her own political ambitions as well. She ran in the Democratic primary for a Manhattan civil court judge seat in 2022. While she was recognized by the Manhattan Democratic Party as one of the “most highly qualified” candidates, she only managed to secure two write-in votes. Ouch! I guess the people spoke, or rather, didn’t speak.
And if that wasn’t enough, it turns out Greenfield has been spreading her wealth around too. She has donated thousands of dollars to local Democratic candidates and branches. Her most recent contribution was a whopping $250 to the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club, an LGBT branch of the Manhattan Democratic Party. It seems like she really puts her money where her political mouth is.
So there you have it. A law clerk with her own political agenda, connections to Chuck Schumer, and a history of generous donations to the Democratic Party. It’s no wonder Trump had something to say about it. But Judge Engoron didn’t want to hear any more of it, so he issued a gag order. It’s all part of what Trump calls a “witch hunt” against him. And who can blame him? It’s clear that there are biases at play here, and it’s about time someone called them out.
