Former President Donald Trump took aim at President Joe Biden, accusing him of abandoning America with his lax border policies, as both leaders prepared to visit the southern border in Texas. In a scathing op-ed for the Daily Mail, Trump didn’t hold back, declaring, “The open-border madness we are experiencing today is Joe Biden’s doing.”
During his time in office, Trump prided himself on fortifying the border, emphasizing his contentious but effective wall and noting that he left the “most secure border in U.S. history” for Biden. However, he criticized the current administration’s actions, singling out the termination of Title 42 and the suspension of wall construction as key failures that spelled disaster at the border.
Pointing fingers at the current administration, Trump lamented Biden’s alleged handcuffing of ICE and Border Patrol, alleging that the president had broadcasted to the world that America’s border was wide open, inviting a flood of unlawful crossings. Trump argued that Biden could easily rectify the border crisis but was unwilling to do so, asserting that what was actually needed was for America to bid adieu to Biden.
Furthermore, Trump seized on the opportunity to highlight the grim consequences of the border crisis, referencing an unsettling rise in crime rates he attributed to undocumented immigrants, and using young nursing student Laken Riley’s tragic death as a poignant example. He warned Americans not to be swayed by Biden’s rhetoric, urging them to recognize the betrayal of their trust and the nation’s security entailed by the current administration’s policies.
As Trump and Biden vied for public support on the pressing immigration issue, the former president was unyielding in his critique of Biden’s border approach. He rallied for a return to stricter border enforcement, painting a portrait of an embattled nation under the helm of a president he deemed unfit to safeguard its sovereignty.
