Former President Donald Trump slammed the 2020 presidential election, which he lost to Joe Biden, as “rigged,” and declared that “82% of the country understands” this apparent truth. The ex-commander-in-chief made these incendiary remarks during a rousing campaign rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he doubled down on his claims of electoral fraud.
Trump didn’t pull any punches as he boldly asserted, “Do you ever notice they go after the people that want to find out where the cheating was?” The former president seemed to allude to the legal troubles he’s facing in Georgia and Washington, D.C., related to his purported efforts to challenge the 2020 election results. He emphasized, “And by the way, 82% of the country understands that it was a rigged election. You can’t have a country with that. A poll came out, 82%.”

Although the source and authenticity of the poll Trump referenced are unclear, it’s worth noting that the Public Religion Research Institute released the findings of its American Values Survey in November 2021. The survey discovered that 82% of “Republicans who most trust Fox News” either “completely agree” or “mostly agree” that the election was stolen from Trump. This figure drops significantly to just 31% among all respondents.
Following his victories in Missouri and Idaho caucuses, as well as securing delegates at Michigan’s Republican Party convention, Trump has amassed an impressive 244 delegates on his path toward the required 1,215 needed to clinch the GOP’s presidential nomination. If he maintains his formidable lead over former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, he’s poised to go head-to-head with Biden in the general election. Get ready for a showdown, America!
