In a bold move to address the ongoing border crisis, former President Donald Trump is calling on governors to use their National Guard soldiers to remove migrants back across the border. Trump’s statement on Truth Social comes after 25 Republican governors expressed their support for Texas in its standoff against the Biden administration in Shelby Park. The former president is urging all states to deploy their guards to Texas in order to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants and to remove those already within the state.
Trump emphasizes that these measures are necessary to protect the safety, security, and sovereignty of Texas and the American people. He argues that Texas has rightfully invoked the Invasion Clause of the Constitution due to the severity of the national security and public health catastrophe caused by the influx of migrants. The former president’s comments coincide with the statements of support from 25 Republican governors across the country.

Governor Greg Abbott of Texas, who has been leading the charge to secure the state’s southern border, has received widespread support from his fellow Republicans. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem even offered to personally load razor wire onto a pickup truck if Abbott needs more supplies. The Department of Homeland Security has sent a demand letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, requesting full and unimpeded access to Shelby Park. However, Abbott remains steadfast in asserting the state’s control over the park and the border region.
With the new fiscal year beginning in October 2023, Border Patrol agents have already apprehended over 460,000 migrants who illegally crossed the border into the five Texas-based sectors. This significant number underscores the urgent need for action. It is clear that Texas, and indeed the entire country, has a constitutional right and an obligation to defend and protect itself.
As a conservative news writer, it is refreshing to see leaders like Trump and Abbott taking a strong stance on border security. The Biden administration’s lax immigration policies have allowed for an unprecedented surge of illegal immigrants, endangering American citizens and overwhelming border patrol resources. While it is unfortunate that the burden falls on individual states to address this crisis, it is reassuring to see Republican governors uniting in support of Texas. It is time for decisive action, and the deployment of National Guard soldiers is a necessary and robust measure to address this national security issue.
