Former President Donald Trump maintains a strong lead over President Joe Biden in the critical swing state of Michigan, according to the latest CNN Poll. Not only is Trump leading Biden nationally by eight points, but his advantage grows even more in individual states like Michigan. In Michigan, Trump is currently ahead by ten points, with 50 percent support compared to Biden’s 40 percent. Another ten percent of respondents said they would not support either candidate.
Adding to his lead, Trump also holds a five-point advantage over Biden in Georgia, with 49 percent support to Biden’s 44 percent. These numbers paint a clear picture of Trump’s popularity in key swing states.

One interesting factor contributing to Trump’s margin over Biden is the support he receives from voters who did not cast ballots in 2020. In both Georgia and Michigan, these voters favor Trump by a significant margin, with a 26-point advantage in Georgia and a whopping 40-point advantage in Michigan. It seems that these voters, who did not participate in the last election, are now turning to Trump for the upcoming 2024 race.
It’s worth noting that while Biden did win Michigan in the 2020 election, his victory margin was significantly smaller compared to Trump’s win in 2016. Trump secured the state by a mere 0.3 percent in 2016, but Biden won by 2.8 percent in 2020. These latest poll results suggest that Trump continues to have a strong foothold in Michigan, despite his loss in the last election.
The CNN Poll was conducted from November 29 to December 6 among 1,197 registered voters in Michigan and from November 30 to December 7 among 1,068 registered voters in Georgia. The margin of error for both polls is +/- 3.4 percent in Michigan and +/- 3.3 percent in Georgia.
These findings align with other surveys conducted by Bloomberg News/Morning Consult and the New York Times/Siena, which also showed Trump leading Biden in key swing states. It seems that Trump’s appeal and popularity are enduring, maintaining his strong position in important battleground states like Michigan and Georgia.
