Donald Trump sat down for an exclusive interview with Breitbart News and shared his thoughts on Special Counsel Jack Smith. According to Trump, he believes that Smith feels like he’s losing politically because Trump is leading by a large margin. Trump argues that people are angry about the weaponization of the Justice Department against a political opponent, calling it a tactic commonly used in third-world countries. He also expressed his disdain for Joe Biden, stating that he has done more damage to the country than the ten worst presidents combined.

During the interview, Trump described Smith as someone straight out of “central casting.” Trump recently filed a motion asking the court to hold Smith in contempt for continuing to make filings despite a stay on proceedings in the January 6 case. Trump claims that Smith’s recent filings are an indication that he knows he is losing the war for public opinion. In particular, Trump takes issue with Smith’s attempt to prevent him from speaking about Nancy Pelosi’s refusal to accept the deployment of troops on January 6, 2021.
Trump argues that he should have immunity from prosecution because his actions leading up to January 6 were official actions taken as the president of the United States. He believes that the courts should determine his immunity and that the election was rigged and stolen. Trump asserts that he was investigating the election to ensure its honesty and fairness, even though the election was over and he wasn’t campaigning at the time.
Trump’s claim of presidential immunity has delayed the charges brought against him by Smith. The case is currently before the appellate circuit court in D.C., and depending on the outcome, it could be brought back to the Supreme Court. Trump has stated that if elected president again, he would fire Smith, whom he considers a dishonest person. Trump also criticized Biden for keeping Smith employed, stating that it’s hurting the country.
Trump believes that Smith feels like he’s losing politically, the election was rigged and stolen, and Biden is harming the country by employing Smith as special counsel. He also worries that this sets a bad precedent and may lead to future presidents going after Biden for the precedent he has set.
