CBS News is throwing quite the tantrum now that former President Donald Trump has decided to ghost them for their upcoming “60 Minutes” interview. This decision didn’t just sprout from thin air; it comes on the heels of Lesley Stahl’s numerous fibs during Trump’s last visit to the show in 2020. In that cringe-worthy interview, Stahl not only couldn’t keep her facts straight but also put together a segment so edited it looked more like a bad soap opera than actual journalism.
In a press release, CBS confirmed Trump’s latest no-show, stating that their plans for a primetime election special on October 7 still stand, but they’re sorely missing the former president. They claimed that both Biden and Harris (sorry, Vice President Harris) were game for their spotlight, but Trump’s camp has decided that they’re just too busy to tolerate another round of Stahl’s less-than-honest “reporting.” Meanwhile, Harris is set to sit down with correspondent Bill Whitaker, while Trump’s snub of CBS is slated to take center stage because, frankly, who would want to be subjected to another “gotcha” interview?

It seems even the Trump Campaign has taken the opportunity to poke holes in CBS’s version of events. They’re adamant that there was never a firm agreement in place, leaving the news giant looking somewhat foolish for suggesting otherwise. The irony here is we’re supposed to take CBS seriously while they cling to an empty chair where the former president should’ve been.
At a recent campaign event, Trump addressed the elephant in the room, saying he’d need an apology from CBS before considering another sit-down. After all, who could forget the earlier debacle where Stahl claimed that Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop bore all the signs of a “Russian disinformation campaign”? This ludicrous assertion was built on a house of cards made from a bogus letter pushed by anti-Trump intelligence officers to silence a controversial story during the heated 2020 election.
Most entertainingly, this saga highlights just how far the media will go to twist the narrative in favor of a candidate like President Biden, even if it means blatantly ignoring evidence pointing to scandal. The grilling from Stahl back in 2020 clearly demonstrated a glaring bias, which has become quite commonplace for networks like CBS. It’s no wonder that many Americans are tuning out, as they clearly see through the smoke and mirrors.
