Get ready, folks, because it’s time to play everyone’s favorite game: the VP guessing game! With the great and powerful Donald Trump pretty much guaranteed to be the Republican nominee, all eyes are turning to who might be his running mate. And boy, did he give us some hints in a recent interview with Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures.
During the interview, Trump threw out the names of Senator Tim Scott and South Dakota governor Kristi Noem as potential running mates. Now, Trump claims he hasn’t made a final decision yet (but let’s be real, this man loves to keep us in suspense), but he did say he’s looking for someone who can do the job of president on day one. You know, just your typical job requirement for vice president.
Both Scott and Noem have already endorsed Trump and are out there on the campaign trail singing his praises. Scott, bless his heart, even endorsed Trump over Nikki Haley, who gave him his current Senate gig. Talk about a slap in the face! Trump teased Scott about it during their interview, saying he “must hate” Haley. Scott, trying to save face (and probably his job), replied with a sheepish “I just love you!” Oh, the power dynamics at play here, folks!
But let’s not forget that Scott’s presidential campaign was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it affair. He got a lot of buzz for no good reason, and it all ended up being a big ol’ flop. Trump even had the nerve to call him “low key” as a candidate (ouch!). But hey, at least now Scott is doing something right by endorsing Trump. The Don himself reportedly told Scott that he’s a better candidate for him than he is for himself. Talk about brutal honesty!
Now onto our girl Kristi Noem. Trump had some high praise for her, calling her an “incredible” fighter. And she ain’t one to back down, folks! Noem came out and said she’d never run against Trump because she knows she can’t beat him. That was a nice thing to say, huh? It’s like a big ol’ love fest between these two. But Noem wants you to know they haven’t had any discussions about her potentially being Trump’s running mate. They just talk all the time about how they can “help” our country during this “critical time in history.” Hmm, isn’t that sweet?
And let’s not forget Scott’s take on all of this. He wants you to know that he’s just focused on helping Trump win in November. He’s not about that self-promotion stuff, folks. Nope, he’s all about what America needs. And according to him, what America needs is four more years of President Donald Trump. Can I get an amen?
So, while Trump continues to keep us guessing (and boy, does he love doing that), one thing’s for sure: he’s got some options. Whether it’s Scott or Noem or someone totally out of left field, one thing’s certain – Trump wants a VP who’s ready to step into that presidency on day one. And with the way he’s shaking things up in politics, it’s going to be a wild ride. Buckle up, folks!
