USAID Layoffs Leave Workers Seeking New Jobs

Welcome to reality, USAID bureaucrats. Turns out, life isn’t so cushy when the American worker stops footing the bill for your inflated paychecks and endless junkets around the world. For years, these so-called “public servants” helped funnel billions of taxpayer dollars into NGOs and foreign projects while millions of Americans struggled to make ends meet. Now that the gravy train has derailed, it’s hard to feel an ounce of sympathy for them.

It’s actually quite telling that, more than a year after getting laid off, many of these globalist elites still can’t find a job. One senior USAID exec was pulling in almost $300,000 a year—more than four times what the average American brings home, and six times the national median. But outside of their taxpayer-funded bubble, their “skills” don’t seem to count for much. She’s now scratching for jobs at a spice shop, fighting to cover her mortgage, and learning she'd better hide that mountain of international “experience” if she wants any realistic chance of work. What does that say about the value of these so-called “experts”?

Let’s not forget: These workers were not laid off for no reason. For decades, USAID became a golden parachute for left-wing managers and ideological loyalists who checked the right diversity boxes, spouted globalist talking points, and grew government bloat. At a time when real Americans are pinching every penny, why should we cry for those who lived large on money we don’t have? Deficit spending was used to prop up a managerial class more interested in foreign “impact” than serving our communities here at home.

And the liberal media? They want us to see these folks as tragic victims—portraying them as pitiful casualties instead of the overpaid operatives they really were. Just try asking the Americans working two jobs to keep the lights on if they feel sorry for someone who spent decades on the DC cocktail circuit, now reduced to the jobs that everyday people have always done.

The tragedy isn’t these globalist bureaucrats losing their jobs. The real outrage is how long Washington allowed them to waste our money. Maybe they’ll finally learn what the rest of us have known for years: in the real world, you actually have to produce value to get paid. Will the ruling class in DC ever get the message? Or will they keep asking hardworking taxpayers for one more bailout?
