Victory Lap Denied: SCOTUS Sidesteps Crushing Campus Censors!

The liberal thought police have suffered a major setback as the U.S. Supreme Court steered clear of resolving a crucial case that could have curbed the nasty business of silencing conservative voices on college campuses.

In a classic David versus Goliath showdown, a legal battle called Speech First, Inc. v. Sands pitted the little guy, Speech First, against Virginia Tech’s “bias-response team policies.” These policies were nothing short of Orwellian, snooping on students’ speech and giving them the stink eye when their words veered away from the liberal indoctrination that is all too common at universities.

Thankfully, the U.S. Supreme Court gently pulled out of the fight, deeming the case moot because Virginia Tech had seen the error of its ways and revised the suspicious policy at the center of the debate. But don’t pop the champagne just yet, folks, because this is far from over.

Legal wizard Jonathan Butcher from the Heritage Foundation predicts more showdowns on the horizon, with colleges across the nation still brazenly practicing these speech-squelching shenanigans. And he’s not wrong – these bias response teams often buddy up with diversity, equity, and inclusion offices, showing their true colors as centers of censorship and discrimination.

Two Supreme Court justices, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, were ready to rumble and wanted to tackle this issue head-on, lamenting that until the court steps up, students’ freedom of speech will vary wildly based on where they go to school. This is like playing a game where the rules change depending on which state you’re in – whack!

To add some spice to the mix, Teresa Manning from the National Association of Scholars sounded off on the issue, labeling bias response teams as un-American and outright embarrassing. This ain’t just about squashing free speech; it’s about turning these places of higher learning into intellectual wastelands.

Let’s not forget that these speech squelchers are slurping up taxpayer dollars left and right. Teresa Manning says it’s time to pull the plug on ’em, and she’s got a point. No way should our hard-earned cash be fueling these anti-American antics.

So, while the Supreme Court may have sidestepped this battle, the war against campus censorship rages on, and you can bet your bottom dollar that this won’t be the last time we hear about these freedom-fighting firebrands taking on the liberal elite.
