Officials in Texas requested for help identifying a bizarre species seen roaming near a local zoo on Wednesday.
According to CBS News, the human-like beast was spotted on camera strolling outside the Amarillo Zoo in the early hours of the morning on May 21. When zoo employees were examining over footage from game cameras, they stumbled across the monster.
The game cameras, according to Michael Kashuba, director of the parks and recreation department, only take still photos. The photo was taken in a park area just beyond the zoo’s boundaries that sees very little activity. According to CBS, a staff member shared Kashuba the photo after talks with coworkers yielded no suggestions or explanations as to what the creature is.
Kashuba told CBS News, “Nobody could figure out what it was.” “And so, that’s where we decided to kind of reach out to our community to see if there was any thoughts on what it could potentially be.”
According to CBS, several social media users speculated that the animal was a skinwalker, a Navajo entity that shapeshifts from human to animal form.
During the time the creature roamed the region, no animals were hurt, and Kashuba stated that there was no fear, “just more of a curiosity.” The animal has been dubbed an Unidentified Amarillo Object, or UAO, by the zoo.
“It’s definitely a strange and interesting image. “Maybe Amarillo can help solve the mystery of our UAO,” Kashuba speculated. The city of Amarillo’s website requested that the public send in any suggestions for what the monster could be.
