Another election cycle rolls around, and out steps Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, who seems to have a knack for marketing her own foolishness. As if on cue, she took to the social media platform X to opine about President-elect Donald Trump’s selection of Pete Hegseth, a veteran and Fox News host, as Secretary of Defense. Apparently, Warren feels the need to play the role of self-appointed guardian of all things military, despite her own questionable record on the issue.
Warren, with her usual flair for dramatic over-simplification, derided Hegseth’s credentials by simplistically labeling him a “Fox & Friends weekend co-host.” In her mind, Trump must have tossed a dart at a board of Fox personalities to select his Secretary of Defense. This epitomizes Warren’s tendency to downplay the significance of military service and elevate surface-level snobbery. After all, how could anyone serve in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq, and Afghanistan and be remotely qualified for such a critical position? It’s not like Pete Hegseth has done anything notable, right?
For context, the man has earned two Bronze Stars and the Combat Infantrymen’s Badge. Those awards might not mean much to Warren, but for the rest of America, they represent service and sacrifice. Plus, his commitment to veterans’ issues—leading organizations like Vets for Freedom and Concerned Veterans for America—speaks volumes about his dedication to those who have served. But, of course, Warren only sees the man in a suit sitting on a television set.
Warren faced swift backlash from those who recognize the absurdity of her comments. One user on X shared a screenshot of Hegseth’s military achievements and chastised Warren for her disrespect towards a veteran. An assertion like that is hard to argue with, considering the stars on Hegseth’s chest hold more weight than any half-hearted political critique from a senator with a penchant for misrepresenting her heritage. After all, it’s not like Warren is known for dishing out respect to anyone who doesn’t fit her narrow view of expertise.
BREAKING: Elizabeth Warren says "A Fox & Friends weekend co-host is not qualified to be the Secretary of Defense."

But what truly stands out here is Warren’s audacious claim to have any moral high ground regarding military qualifications. This is a woman infamous for claiming American Indian ancestry based solely on “high cheek bones,” a bizarre and dubious qualification that has turned into an embarrassing narrative for her. Comparatively, Hegseth’s impressive background, bolstered by degrees from Harvard and Princeton, actually gives him a more legitimate basis to understand national security—not to mention a genuine connection to military personnel.
Ultimately, Warren’s elitist attitude encapsulates much of what many Americans detest about the Washington establishment. In her predictable display of disdain for Trump’s appointees, she exposes her true self. If Warren had any genuine concern for the military and its members, she would at least acknowledge Hegseth’s competence and experience, instead of “disrespecting” him as merely a talking head. But that’s not her style. After all, who needs facts and respect in a good old-fashioned political tirade?
