After The Midterms, It’s Still Not Clear Which Party Will Run The House

Even though the election has already passed, it's still not clear if either party will control the House of Representatives after the new Congress convenes in January.

The Democratic Party had headed into the contest with control of both the House and Senate.

According to Fox News, if the Republicans gain the majority in the House, Kevin McCarthy would be the candidate to become the next House speaker.

In an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper, Nancy Pelosi, the current House speaker, said that the attack on her husband would have a huge impact on her political future. She also indicated that she might not be able to continue serving in the House if Democrats lose control of it.

Cooper then asked the lawmaker whether her choice will be impacted by the assault.

"Yes," Pelosi responded.

For over three decades, Nancy Pelosi has been a member of the House of Representatives. She is the only woman to serve as the House speaker.

The results of the elections came as former Vice President Joe Biden was still struggling with the approval ratings. Americans were also getting walloped by the rising cost of living.

Even if the Republicans were to gain control of both the House and Senate, they would not be able to push their agenda due to the number of vetoes they would likely encounter from Biden.

The next presidential election is scheduled to take place in 2024. If Donald Trump decides to run for president again, he will make an announcement about his potential campaign on November 15.
