The lack of communication between the U.S. and Chinese militaries has been a cause for concern for many in Washington. The White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby recently reported that the lines of communication between the two militaries are “unfortunately” closed. President Biden attempted to be more transparent about recent issues regarding Chinese spy balloons when he spoke Thursday afternoon, but his attempt ultimately failed as he became visibly flustered before marching off stage when talking to reporters. Biden also faced criticism from a reporter who accused him of being “compromised by your family’s business relationships” with China. Biden then defended himself saying that when it came to the Chinese spy balloon he “gave the order to shoot it down as soon as it would be safe to do so.”
