In a classic display of Democratic frustration, the party seems to be once again plotting ways to oust officials whose views don’t align with their own. This time, it’s the Squad taking aim at Supreme Court Justice following a ruling related to former President Donald Trump’s immunity.
According to reports from the conservative news giant Fox News, firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is leading the charge by threatening to file articles of impeachment against the Supreme Court. She painted a dramatic picture of a court allegedly consumed by corruption and declared it was Congress’s duty to defend the nation from what she termed “authoritarian capture.”
The court’s ruling granting a former president “absolute immunity” for actions within their constitutional authority has clearly ruffled some Democratic feathers. AOC’s call for impeachment raises eyebrows, especially given the legal grounds cited by the high court for their decision.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, both Democrats from New York, echoed AOC’s sentiment of disappointment. Jeffries promised aggressive oversight to rein in what he sees as extreme, far-right justices, while Schumer lamented the court’s decision as a blow to America’s democratic principles.
The Democrats’ coordinated backlash against the Supreme Court’s ruling showcases their determination to challenge decisions that don’t align with their ideology.
