In a stunning new development that has sent shockwaves through the political world, President Biden’s chances of winning the battleground states of Michigan and Georgia in the 2024 election are looking worse than a possum in a hailstorm. If the 2024 election were held today, the survey shows that President Trump would trounce Biden in Michigan by a whopping 10-point margin, with the numbers at 50% for Trump and a measly 40% for Biden. And things aren’t much brighter in Georgia, where Trump leads by 5 points, with 49% for him and 44% for ol’ Joe. It’s a real punch in the gut for the incumbent, who rode these swing states to victory in 2020 and into the White House.
But wait, it gets worse! The poll also reveals that Mr. Biden’s job approval ratings in both states are downright pitiful. In Michigan, only 35% of voters give him the thumbs up, and in Georgia, a dismal 39% approve of his job performance. Ouch! That’s gotta sting like a bee at a picnic.
The main culprits behind Biden’s sinking ship of a presidency are the economy and that pesky old age of his. The survey shows that a whopping 56% of Michigan voters believe Biden has made the economy worse, while a measly 25% think he’s improved it. The results in Georgia are pretty much the same, with about one in five voters in each state saying the president hasn’t done much to steer the economy in any direction.
But hold onto your hats, folks, because it’s not all doom and gloom for Mr. Biden. The survey did find a glimmer of hope for him in the form of potential legal consequences for Mr. Trump. About half of voters in both Georgia and Michigan (47% and 46% respectively) believe that if Trump is found guilty of criminal charges related to overturning the 2020 presidential election, he should be disqualified from running for a second term. It’s like finding a lucky penny in a parking lot – not much, but at least it’s something!
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse for Joe, the survey also delves into his age, revealing that a whopping 69% of Michigan voters think his sharpness and stamina are “not what you want in a president.” Ouch! If that doesn’t make you wince, I don’t know what will.
