President Joe Biden is finding himself in hot water as he battles it out with the “progressive” Democrats in Congress over a major border deal. The tension between the progressive Dems and Biden, as well as his more centrist Democrat pals in Congress, skyrocketed when the party couldn’t see eye-to-eye on the Israel-Hamas war. And now, things are heating up again as Biden tries to strike a deal with House Republicans to get a grip on the border crisis. But those progressive Democrats are stamping their feet and yelling, “No way, José!” at the mere idea of compromising.
The head honcho of the Progressive Caucus, Chairwoman Pramila Jayapal from Washington, ain’t holding back. She’s warning Biden not to go all weak-kneed and start parroting the Republicans. She’s like, “Hey, has it ever worked for us to cozy up to the Republicans? No way, Jose! It ain’t gonna happen.”
Then, you’ve got other progressive Democrats like Rep. Greg Casar from Texas chiming in too, saying this border deal is all sorts of bad. He’s like, “It’s bad for our economy, bad for immigration, and just downright bad for Americans.” He’s sticking his nose up at any deal that includes “Trump-light” policies and failed, anti-immigrant mumbo jumbo.
And hey, don’t forget about Rep. Casar calling for Biden to federalize the Texas National Guard over the border beef with Gov. Greg Abbott. The dude’s standing firm on his principles, that’s for sure.
Oh, and guess what? It’s not just the Democrat drama going down. Conservative Republicans, led by House Speaker Mike Johnson from Louisiana, are giving some major side-eye to the whole border deal too. If the Republicans and the progressive Dems start throwing fits from both sides of the aisle, it could be lights out for the border deal. Looks like this battle is far from over.
