Biden Vows to Ban ‘Assault Weapons’ – No Matter What!

President Joe Biden is persisting in his efforts to prohibit the use of so-called “assault weapons”, even though most Americans are not in favor of such a ban. At a House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, he vowed to implement the ban regardless of any obstacles he may face. Biden’s announcement followed his previous call in favor of banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, which was prompted by the shooting at Michigan State University on Feb. 13, in which three individuals and injured five others.

During the National Action Network’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day breakfast in January, Biden expressed his opinion that “assault weapons” have no “social redeeming value” since deer don’t wear “Kevlar vests.” He further raised concerns about the necessity of high capacity magazines and the idea of using assault weapons for self-defense against the government.

At the State of the Union Address on February 7, President Biden cited Brandon Tsay, a hero from Monterey Park, as he urged for a nationwide prohibition on “assault weapons”. Biden mentioned Tsay in his call for the ban, highlighting that he had saved lives and emphasizing that it is now necessary for the nation to take similar action.

Despite Biden’s continued push for a ban on assault weapons, a majority of Americans are opposed to such a ban. A recent poll by the Daily Caller News Foundation found that almost two-thirds of Americans do not want a ban on assault weapons. This poll shows that the majority of Americans are not in favor of Biden’s proposed ban, and instead prefer to focus on other methods of gun control such as background checks and safe storage of guns.

It is clear that President Joe Biden is determined to push through his agenda of banning assault weapons “come hell or high water”, regardless of the majority of Americans being opposed to such a ban. Biden is using emotionally charged rhetoric and exploiting tragic events to push his agenda, while ignoring the fact that the majority of Americans are against it.

President Joe Biden should heed the voice of the American people and concentrate on alternative measures of gun control that enjoy greater public support. Banning assault weapons is not a solution, and it is imperative for Biden to recognize this and shift his attention away from this matter.
