The Biden administration seems to have a new obsession with forcing their environmentalist agenda onto the American people. The latest development is nearly $5 billion in grants and loans to “help” low-income housing retrofit green technology, like solar panels. Yes, you read that right, taxpayer dollars will now be going to fund the Biden administration’s latest pet project.
The Green and Resilient Retrofit Program, instituted under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), will have over $4 billion in loans and $837.5 million in grants allocated for implementation. While the IRA already provides tax breaks for making the “switch” from fossil-fuel-powered appliances to supposed green technology, this new program will address the supposed “lack of time and resources” for low-income Americans. In other words, the Biden administration thinks low-income Americans are too stupid or lazy to switch to green technology without the government’s help.

HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge is leading this latest government boondoggle, stating that, “our mission is to make sure that low-income people are participants in what we believe is going to be one of the biggest climate-focused projects across this country.” While the money won’t directly go to low-income renters, HUD hopes the program will drive down their utility bills. However, HUD officials admitted that this grant program is not enough to reach all the subsidized multifamily housing units in America.
But it doesn’t stop there. The Biden administration also announced strict new power plant rules, effectively requiring fossil-fuel-fired plants to adopt new green technologies or face being shut down by 2040. However, the carbon capture technology, which is central to the administration’s plans, remains unproven and untested.
It seems like the Biden administration is willing to spend billions of dollars of taxpayer money to force their green-washed agenda onto Americans. We can only hope that in the future, Americans will take a stand against these nonsensical payouts that come at their expense.
