President Joe Biden’s speech at the Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, turned chaotic as rowdy protesters disrupted the event, demanding a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict. Unsurprisingly, the protesters’ disruptive chants were met with resounding support for the President from his loyal backers, who chanted “four more years” to drown out the unruly clamor.

This historic church, marred by the tragic 2015 shooting, was the backdrop for Biden’s attempt to pander to the Black community. In a feeble effort to shift attention from his floundering approval ratings, especially among Black voters, Biden took the opportunity to grandstand about his supposed involvement in discussions with Israel on the Gaza conflict. Notably absent from his speech were tangible solutions to the pressing issues facing the country.
The President seized the moment to take potshots at his predecessor, Donald Trump, by harping on about democracy and baseless accusations regarding the 2020 election, rather than addressing the concerns of the American people. As if that wasn’t appalling enough, Biden shamelessly attacked former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley’s remarks on the Civil War and slavery, further fanning the flames of division and discord.
During his address, Biden shamelessly tried to portray himself as a champion of civil rights by recounting controversial anecdotes, including dubious claims about his involvement with the Bethel AME Church in Wilmington, Delaware. His attempt to rewrite history and manipulate the truth to curry favor with the Black community was shamelessly transparent, leaving his dubious credibility in tatters yet again.
In a stunning display of obliviousness, Biden lauded the 2020 BLM/Antifa protests as a noble pursuit of justice, willfully ignoring the rampant violence and wanton destruction that ensued. This blatant whitewashing of facts is an insult to the Americans who bore the brunt of the chaos and devastation wrought by those tumultuous events.
Predictably, Biden’s speech was met with rightful skepticism and criticism, with many calling him out for his habitual dishonesty. It’s high time the President abandons his disingenuous attempts at rewriting his history and instead focuses on delivering on his promises to the American people.
