President Joe Biden, fresh off a debate performance that can only be described as a train wreck, had his chance to redeem himself with a press conference at the NATO summit in Washington. Spoiler alert: it didn’t go well. Democrats must have been wringing their hands watching ol’ Joe struggle through what should have been a straightforward Q&A.
Firstly, ever the epitome of punctuality, Biden strolled in an hour late. Nothing says “I’m in command” like keeping reporters and dignitaries twiddling their thumbs. When the octogenarian finally took the stage, it was more of a comedy of errors than a presidential address.

Within moments of opening his mouth, Biden managed to confuse Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Oops! Just a minor slip of the tongue when the world is watching. Reading from a teleprompter didn’t seem to help much either as Biden rambled aimlessly, mixing up words like a toddler learning to speak.
When it came to discussing the economy, Biden touted falling prices. Apparently, he hasn’t checked the latest inflation statistics, showing prices have surged over 20 percent since he took office, with inflation remaining stubbornly high for 39 straight months. Other countries supposedly want to swap their economies for America’s, he claimed. Sure, Joe, and pigs might fly.
Then came the pièce de résistance. Calling Vice President Kamala Harris “Vice President Trump” might be the Freudian slip of the century. This gem was swiftly followed by Biden revealing his staff had given him a list of reporters to call on. Nothing inspires confidence like admitting you’re not allowed to think for yourself.
Against this backdrop of gaffes and questionable statements, Biden also managed to gloss over serious national security issues. He labeled the Ukraine-Russia war a national security risk for the U.S. while conveniently ignoring the flood of illegal immigrants crossing the border. Couple that with his dubious assertion that border encounters have decreased by 50 percent, and Biden’s credibility takes another nosedive.
If anyone needed more evidence of Biden’s inability to lead, his comments about following his “commander-in-chief” were nearly incomprehensible. His word salad performances are becoming routine at this point. All in all, this press conference was less a demonstration of presidential prowess and more a confirmation of mounting concerns about Biden’s fitness for office. What a time to be alive.
