Biden’s Youth Support Crumbles: Reelection in Peril as Trump Gains Ground

Chief political analyst for the New York Times Nate Cohn's research focuses on the possible obstacles to President Joe Biden's reelection, particularly among young Americans. As per the polls conducted by the New York Times, Biden's lead among young Democrats who are registered or have voted in a Democratic primary before is barely 76–20 percent. This suggests that young voters are not really excited about voting for Biden. Furthermore, among young non-white Democrats, his margin against former President Donald Trump is only 69–24 percent, highlighting his lackluster popularity in this group.

According to Cohn, there are three main reasons why young people don't think highly of Biden: they are dissatisfied with his handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict, they are concerned about his age, and young voters have historically shown little excitement for him. Young Americans' financial concerns are also important, as many of them face financial difficulty, especially in relation to housing costs. These obstacles threaten Biden's chances of being reelected, as does his current unhappiness with younger voters.

Biden's chances of winning reelection could be in jeopardy if he doesn't take immediate action to solve these problems and maintain a low approval rating.
