Lael Brainard, the National Economic Council director, recently made some bold claims about President Biden’s economic record. According to Brainard, Biden’s economic achievements are so remarkable that world leaders would jump at the opportunity to switch places with him. Now, that’s a pretty bold statement, considering the state of the economy under Biden’s watch.
Brainard also brushed off any concerns about a recession, pointing to recent jobs reports to bolster her argument. It seems like the Biden administration is desperately trying to spin October’s jobs report as a win for “Bidenomics.” They’re hoping that by improving the perception of the president’s economic record, they can distract people from the real issues we’re facing.

But let’s take a closer look at the facts. While Biden proudly claims that 14 million jobs have been created since he took office, he conveniently forgets to mention the skyrocketing inflation and the rising costs of goods and services. Most Americans are feeling the pinch in their wallets, and no amount of job creation can compensate for that.
Surprisingly, recent polls have shown that only a meager two percent of voters agreed that the economy is in “excellent shape.” That’s hardly a ringing endorsement for Biden’s economic policies. Even young voters, who overwhelmingly supported Biden in the last election, have expressed their lack of confidence in his ability to manage the economy. In fact, a whopping 28-point margin trusts Trump more in this regard. Ouch!
Despite these clear signs of dissatisfaction, Brainard appears to be living in an alternate reality. She insists that the nation’s economy is humming along just fine and that Americans really love Biden’s policies. Now, I don’t know what planet she’s living on, but here on Earth, people are struggling to make ends meet.
And when questioned about the potential for a recession in 2024, Brainard dismisses the idea without a second thought. She points to job creation numbers and labor market trends as evidence that a recession is off the table. But let’s be honest, the Biden administration has shown a complete lack of foresight and understanding of economic principles. Their policies have only contributed to the inflation and supply chain issues we’re currently facing.
It’s clear that Brainard’s claims are nothing more than political spin aimed at protecting the Biden administration’s reputation. But the American people deserve better than empty rhetoric and false promises. We need leaders who prioritize the well-being of our economy and make decisions that benefit hardworking Americans, not just the elites. It’s time for a change.
