Chris Licht, the president of CNN, said during a podcast that he would “absolutely not” rehire disgraced anchor Chris Cuomo.
In an interview with Kara Swisher, the host of New York Magazine’s podcast “On,” Licht was asked if he would bring back Cuomo, who was fired by CNN in December after he had covered up allegations of sexual misconduct against his brother, Andrew Cuomo.
When asked if he would hire Cuomo, Licht said “Absolutely not.” In March, Cuomo sued CNN, claiming that the network owes him over $125 million for wrongfully dismissing him. He also accused Jeff Zucker, the former president of CNN, of failing to follow his contract.
In 2021, an investigation was opened against Cuomo after several women accused him of sexual misconduct and inappropriate touching. According to the office of New York Attorney General Letitia Jim, Cuomo had tried to gather information about the victims of his brother. He also worked with Melissa DeRosa, the former governor’s top aide, to prepare his responses.
Andrew Cuomo resigned from his position as governor in August 2021. His brother then took responsibility for the allegations, but he did not take responsibility for his actions. In the fall of 2022, Cuomo started a new show on News Nation called “Cuomo.”
