Columbia University is making big changes to keep students safe from the ongoing pro-Palestinian protests causing chaos on campus. Yeah, you heard it right, folks. The turmoil has gotten so out of control that classes are moving to a hybrid model for the rest of the semester. Why? Well, it seems like the pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli protesters just can’t seem to get along, causing all sorts of headaches for everyone else.

The bigwigs at Columbia, including President Minouche Shafik, are pulling out all the stops to calm things down. Shafik even decided to move classes online to, in her own words, “deescalate” the situation. Yep, you heard that right, folks. They’re taking the battles from the quad to the computer screen in a last-ditch effort to bring some peace and quiet back to campus.
And it’s not just the higher-ups who are feeling the heat. Students like Jacob Schmeltz are speaking out about feeling unsafe on campus, especially during a time like Passover. He said, “Jewish students have had enough, and it’s gotten to the point that we feel safer off campus than on it.”
Even President Joe Biden himself had to step in and put his two cents in about the whole mess. He condemned the harassment and violence against Jews, calling it “blatant antisemitism.” Well, it looks like this wild ride at Columbia University isn’t showing any signs of stopping.
