Amid ongoing concerns about President Joe Biden’s age and decreasing mental and physical abilities, there have been rumblings within Democratic circles about the possibility of him being replaced as the party’s nominee in the 2024 election.
During a recent appearance on Fox News, Maryland Governor Wes Moore was questioned by host Brian Kilmeade about the speculation surrounding his potential as a replacement for Biden. Despite Kilmeade’s probing, Governor Moore staunchly voiced his support for President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, emphasizing their accomplishments and the collaboration between the administration and the state of Maryland.
While Kilmeade specifically mentioned Governor Moore’s successful handling of a bridge construction project as a potential indicator of his presidential qualities, the governor remained steadfast in his endorsement of Biden, dismissing any hints at personal ambition for the presidency.
Nevertheless, Moore’s name has surfaced in discussions about potential replacement candidates for Biden, alongside other prominent Democrats like Vice President Harris, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper.
Despite the ongoing speculation and uncertainty surrounding Biden’s future as the Democratic nominee, former first lady Michelle Obama remains a prominent figure in these discussions, even though she has repeatedly disavowed any interest in pursuing political office, let alone a presidential candidacy.
