It seems like the Democrats are finally waking up to what conservatives have been pointing out for quite some time now. Colorado’s liberal senator, John Hickenlooper, has subtly suggested that President Biden might consider stepping aside. In a twist of praise and pragmatism, Hickenlooper went as far as to call Biden “perhaps the greatest president of my lifetime,” which sounds like classic Democrat-style hyperbole.
As Americans question Biden’s declining abilities, even his own party is starting to throw in the towel. Hickenlooper, without spelling it out, emphasized that it’s in the country’s best interests for Biden to pass the torch. When you see fellow Democrats lining up to suggest that an 81-year-old president with a history of COVID isolation and debate flubs might not be fit for another round, you know there’s trouble on the horizon.

Hickenlooper expressed a sense of anguish among Democrats, though one has to wonder if that sorrow is directed more at their dwindling prospects for 2024 than at Biden himself. Hickenlooper, who tried and failed in his own 2020 presidential ambitions, acknowledged the “great loss” Democrats feel at the possibility of Biden not running again. One might argue that the real loss was Biden’s disastrous debate performance that exposed his incoherence – a gift from the heavens for any Republican strategist.
Twenty House Democrats have already sounded the alarm, urging Biden to step aside. Party leaders are reportedly more worried about dragging down other Democrats than they are about keeping Biden in the Oval Office. The scare is so real that even someone as loyal as Hickenlooper is entertaining the idea of a Biden exit. It’s hard not to laugh at the irony – Democrats might just be forced into the very scenario they ridiculed Trump supporters for suggesting all along.
As Biden isolates in Delaware, one can’t help but notice the Democratic Party scrambling for a Plan B. They’ve paraded Biden’s supposed greatness in speeches, but now they’re pivoting faster than a D.C. spin doctor. While Hickenlooper and his colleagues publicly dance around the subject, it’s clear they’re privately panicking about another round with Trump – a round they fear might not end in their favor.
The next few months promise to be a circus act of epic proportions as Democrats try to walk their tightrope, all while juggling the Biden conundrum. Conservatives will be watching with popcorn in hand.
