According to statements made by officials on Sunday, sheriff's deputies in South Carolina have resumed their hunt for a prisoner who escaped from a detention institution on Friday evening.
The Union County Sheriff's Office said that David Paul Strickland, age 44, escaped from the Union County Detention Center while he was being imprisoned there on various counts prior to his escape.
Authorities claim that since Friday night, deputies and K-9 units have been aggressively seeking the fugitive who managed to escape custody.
The sheriff's office issued a statement thanking the community for their vigilance and requesting that anybody who may have information on Strickland contact the police.
The general public was given a warning by the deputies not to approach Strickland and to instead phone 911 if they saw him.
According to FOX Carolina, Strickland was charged with hit-and-run, driving under suspension for the first time, failing to stop for a blue light for the first time, failing to obey a traffic control device, and possession, sale, or dispose of a stolen vehicle
