In a startling revelation, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) memo has confirmed a sentiment long championed by conservatives: border walls stand out as the most effective means of curtailing illegal immigration at the United States-Mexico border. The June 2017 memo, acquired by the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI), leaves little room for dispute on this critical issue.
The IRLI, citing the internal memo, reveals that after scrutinizing 25 border areas, the recommendation was unanimous—construct a border wall in each location. The report emphasizes not only the efficacy of a physical barrier in disrupting irregular migration but also underscores its superior cost-effectiveness compared to alternatives such as electronic sensors. This contradicts President Joe Biden’s dismissal of border walls as a "waste of money" and "not a serious policy solution."
The border wall will be finished when Trump and Tom Homan are back in office.

Dale Wilcox, Executive Director of IRLI, promptly highlighted the hypocrisy exposed by the memo and underscored the vindication it offers to proponents of physical barriers at the border. He criticized the Biden administration for hastily halting border wall construction, asserting that America requires policies aligned with its best interests rather than catering to radical anti-borders activists.
The previous administration under President Donald Trump achieved substantial progress, erecting about 370 miles of border wall, including 80 miles in previously barrier-free zones and replacing 290 miles of outdated barriers. However, despite these efforts, over 60 percent of the nearly 2,000-mile-long southern border remains susceptible without any physical barrier.
Amidst a surge in illegal immigration during the Biden administration, a Fox News poll indicates that four out of seven registered voters support the DHS building additional border wall. Increasing concerns about border security prompt Americans to question why President Biden and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas are resistant to constructing physical barriers on the southern border. Matt O’Brien, IRLI’s Director of Investigations, echoed this sentiment, stressing that walls consistently prove to be the most cost-effective and efficient method for safeguarding national security and public safety.
The memo's unequivocal findings provide compelling evidence that border walls are effective, urging the Biden administration to reconsider its policies and prioritize the safety and security of the American people over the preferences of radical activists.
