Failed Assassination Plot Against Trump Uncovered by Justice Department

In a bizarre turn of events straight out of a crime thriller, Ryan Wesley Routh has allegedly taken a shot at being a hitman by offering a whopping $150,000 for anyone who can finish the job of assassinating former President Donald Trump. This isn’t just some wild conspiracy theory; it’s an actual letter uncovered by the Justice Department that describes Routh’s not-so-well-thought-out plan alongside a hefty price tag for the misery.

Routh apparently wrote this letter after a failed assassination attempt in Palm Beach on September 14, 2024. It’s rather ironic that the letter, which the Justice Department obtained through a witness who only recently decided to open a long-unopened box, contains an apology for the man’s “failure” to carry out this atrocious act. It seems that instead of putting pen to paper to change the world or advance noble causes, Routh decided to attempt murder and entice others with a six-figure bounty. It is truly a shining example of poor decision-making.

The letter, which starts with the rather dramatic salutation “Dear World,” feebly announces that Routh felt “sorry” for failing in his assassination attempt against Trump. It goes on to display an impressive lack of self-awareness by insisting that everyone knows Trump is “unfit” for the presidency as if Routh is the moral arbiter of who can hold public office. One can’t help but chuckle at how far he’s willing to go to declare his allegiance to a cause that only indicates he should have spent less time plotting and more time in moral philosophy classes.

As the state of Florida digs deeper into this would-be assassination attempt, Governor Ron DeSantis has voiced his very understandable frustration over the federal government’s cooperation—or lack thereof. DeSantis has been about as subtle as a jackhammer in expressing his annoyance, emphasizing that the locals have faced roadblocks at every turn. What’s the government hiding? Perhaps they think this type of drama is best left to the movie industry rather than real life.

Routh’s attempts can do nothing but throw further light on the overarching narrative of violence used against conservative figures, posing the fundamental question: at what point do we stop pretending this is merely a disagreement? DeSantis promises a transparent investigation, pointing out that Routh allegedly broke multiple laws across various judicial circuits. While the federal bureaucrats sit on their hands, the Sunshine State is ready to take matters into its own hands, ensuring justice is served and perhaps saving Trump’s life in the process.

America has seen its fair share of absurdity, particularly when it comes to the lengths some will go to oppose its former leaders. The dark humor lying beneath this utterly serious issue serves as a reminder that not every “protest” involves peaceful banners and hashtags; sometimes, it leads to sinister plots that put lives at risk. As for Routh and his misguided ambitions, one can only hope that a nice long prison sentence with plenty of reflection on his choices awaits him.
