Trump didn’t hold back, proclaiming, “This is really election interference. This is fairly ridiculous.” He argued that the financial statement undervalued his assets, citing Mar-a-Lago as an example: “They said Mar-a-Lago is worth $18 million. But it is worth 50 to 100 times more than that.” Trump also took a swipe at Attorney General Letitia James, calling her a “racist” and alluding to the attorney general’s supposed terrible statements.
The courtroom drama escalated when Trump’s lawyer and Justice Engoron engaged in a verbal tug-of-war over the conduct of the proceedings. Trump’s legal representative insisted that the judge listen to the former president’s explanations.
