On Monday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared that the situation in Ukraine is “not a vital U.S. interest.” During a press conference, DeSantis argued that the U.S. should prioritize its own national interests, such as securing its borders, addressing the crisis of readiness within its military, achieving energy security and independence, and checking the economic, cultural, and military power of the Chinese Communist Party.
