GOP Rep Massie Leads Charge to Oust Speaker Johnson

In a fiery interview on Breitbart News Daily, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) made it crystal clear that he’s had enough of Speaker Mike Johnson’s leadership. Massie didn’t hold back when he claimed that Johnson is “not equipped” for the job of speaker and accused him of being a pushover in negotiations with Democrats.

Massie didn’t just stop at complaining, though. He’s also thrown his weight behind a motion to vacate supported by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). Although the motion isn’t privileged, Massie suggested that Greene could elevate it to a privileged status and force the House to consider it within two days.

Massie didn’t mince words when he listed his grievances against Johnson. He criticized Johnson for his lackluster negotiating skills and pointed to his track record of making deals with Democrats that yield little in return for Republicans. Massie also took issue with Johnson’s decision to break spending records and reauthorize FISA without warrants, all while neglecting to address border security concerns.

Not content with just airing his complaints, Massie outlined his vision for Johnson’s resignation. He proposed a scenario where Johnson would agree to step down once the GOP conference reaches a consensus on his replacement. Massie emphasized the need for a seamless transition to avoid the chaos that could ensue if a new speaker isn’t promptly elected.

Massie also drew a parallel between his and Greene’s push for Johnson’s resignation and the resignation of former Speaker John Boehner in 2015. He cited Boehner’s decision to step down after a motion to vacate and urged Johnson to follow suit.

To add fuel to the fire, Massie is on a quest to gather more support for the motion to vacate. He believes that with five or six more members backing the motion, the pressure on Johnson to resign will be undeniable.

It’s clear that Rep. Massie is not pulling any punches in his efforts to oust Speaker Johnson. His bold stance and no-nonsense attitude signal that this isn’t the end of the road for his push to remove Johnson from the speaker’s chair.
