Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy can add another victory to his list as he successfully secured the House passage of a 45-day stopgap bill to avoid a government shutdown and halt funding for Ukraine. Despite disagreements within his own conference, McCarthy came out on top while Democrats pushed for a shutdown over Ukraine funding. It’s clear that the Democrats are desperate and will stop at nothing to get their way.

In a shocking turn of events, Democrat Representative Jamaal Bowman allegedly pulled a fire alarm in the Capitol to delay the vote. This blatant act of sabotage is truly disgraceful and shows just how far the Democrats are willing to go to achieve their goals. House Republicans have rightfully called for Bowman to be expelled from Congress. It’s time that these radical Democrats face repercussions for their actions.

Now that the bill has passed the House, it will move on to the Senate, where Senator Mitch McConnell and Senator Chuck Schumer have been advocating for more Ukraine funding. Thankfully, both McConnell and Schumer have agreed to the House bill and have acknowledged that a government shutdown is not in the best interest of the American people. It’s refreshing to see some bipartisanship in Congress, even if it is just for this one issue.
President Joe Biden will soon have the bill on his desk for signing. It’s a relief to know that there will be no government shutdown, thanks to the efforts of Speaker McCarthy and his fellow Republicans. While Senate Democrats may be upset about the removal of Ukraine funding, Republicans are prepared to deny them the majority they need to pass their own deal. The American people can rest easy knowing that their tax dollars won’t be wasted on a foreign country while they struggle at home.
Overall, McCarthy’s victory is a win for conservatives who have been pushing to avoid a shutdown and stop the continuous flow of funds to Ukraine. It’s time for Republicans to stand up against the wasteful spending and prioritize the needs of the American people. McCarthy’s strong leadership in this situation has shown that he is truly an adult in the room, unlike his Democratic counterparts. The Ethics Committee should absolutely investigate Bowman’s actions and ensure that he faces the consequences for his unacceptable behavior.
