The chaos at the southern border has been a major issue for Republicans, and things are just getting worse. The latest report is that a high-level White House figure is on the way out, and it doesn’t bode well. Acting ICE Deputy Director Tae Johnson will soon be stepping down after working for 28 years as an immigration officer. While ICE spokeswoman Jenny Burke has tried to downplay the rumors, Texas Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales confirmed that Johnson will indeed be leaving in the coming weeks.
Whoever takes over Johnson’s role will be faced with the worst border crisis the United States has ever seen. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz made this clear in a recent hearing, stating that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) lacks “operational control” of America’s southern border. It’s no secret that Joe Biden’s approach to the border has been a disaster, and the situation is only going downhill from here.
Not only has the Biden administration failed to manage the border crisis, but they have also made things worse by halting construction of the border wall. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz even said he disagreed with this decision, and that they “tore down perfectly good infrastructure systems in some areas that we should have just left alone.” It’s this kind of incompetence that has led to chaos at the border.

The Biden administration seems to be completely out of touch with what’s happening at the southern border. The situation is getting worse every day, and they have yet to offer any meaningful solutions. If they continue down this path, the chaos at the border will only continue to escalate. The American people deserve better than this, and it’s time for the administration to take responsibility and actually do something to fix the problem.
