Presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris seems to have mastered the art of selective memory. Despite being knee-deep in the chaos of a Biden-Harris administration that many would classify as the worst in modern American history, Harris is bravely hitting the campaign trail, vowing to fix the very problems she has been a part of creating. Instead of owning up to the mess, she struts about as if she’s not the vice president overseeing an administration that is turning the country on its head. The folks need to keep a tight grip on her feet and hold them to the fire.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich recently highlighted this hypocrisy in an opinion piece, reminding Americans of the last Democratic National Convention held in Chicago—a scene marred by a leftist civil war in 1968. Back then, protests erupted, tear gas filled the air, and the chaos played out live on television. Meanwhile, Richard Nixon waited in the wings, only to land a win that year. Fast forward to now, and the Harris-Walz duo hopes to present a far more serene front, even as they flounder under an avalanche of policy failures.

The so-called “politics of joy” touted by Harris and her ilk is as tone-deaf as a cat in a coal mine. Current polling from RealClear Politics paints a grim picture: 65 percent of Americans feel the country is headed in the wrong direction, which contradicts any message of joy under the Biden-Harris tenure. Families are struggling with skyrocketing inflation, and hope for home ownership has dimmed to a flicker under policies that prioritize foreign interests over American citizens.
If families are left with empty pocketbooks due to rampant inflation or are grieving over lost loved ones from the disaster in Afghanistan, it’s hard to find joy in the Harris song and dance routine. Add to that the horror of open borders that have allowed illegal immigrants to flood communities, and one can hardly see how any claim of joy could resonate with everyday Americans. Communities continue to bear the brunt of the previous administration’s failures, compounded by the inability to protect citizens and uphold law and order.
Gingrich offered a simple method to keep Harris accountable. Every time she makes a pleasant-sounding promise, Americans should ask two pivotal questions: Why didn’t she and the Democrats implement those ideas during the last four years, and what makes anyone think they will suddenly get their act together now? The reality is that the Democrats have been spinning tales and promises while delivering disappointment and disaster for years.
Harris’s about-face on fracking serves as a prime example of her untrustworthiness. Once a staunch opponent, she now panders to voters in Pennsylvania as the election looms closer. Are voters to believe the radical leftist from San Francisco who supports the Green New Deal, or the suddenly pragmatic politician eager for a few votes?
The upcoming Democratic National Convention in Chicago promises to be a spectacle worth watching. It will serve as a grand stage for radicalism, hypocrisy, and downright deception. Those tuning in will witness the lengths to which politicians will go to mask their leftist agenda under the guise of joy. Americans deserve to see the disconnect between the rhetoric and the reality of life under Democrat rule. The curtain will be pulled back, revealing a show of illusions rather than the promise of progress.
