A leftist news host claimed on Monday that Donald Trump could avoid going to prison by signing a plea deal that calls for him to refrain from running for office again. During a broadcast of MSNBC's "The ReidOut," Joy Reid and Rachel Maddow talked about how Trump could follow Spiro Agnew's example and get a reduced sentence.
Rachel Maddow stated that she could not imagine Trump pleading guilty to anything. Her bias against the former president was revealed as she openly admitted that Trump's indictment was a political move to keep him from returning to the presidency.
If the indictment is strong enough, then the Justice Department will treat this as a case that is similar to other cases prosecuted under the Espionage Act. This is not a political strategy or a case of political posturing. Instead, it is a criminal case that has to be handled in court based on the evidence that has been presented.
Rachel Maddow's comparison of Trump to Agnew is misleading since the former governor of Maryland was charged with corruption. On the other hand, Trump is facing charges related to his alleged actions during the course of his presidency.
The left-wing media is full of hate and biased reporting. It doesn't care about the rule of law or the protection of the people. Instead, it focuses on taking down political opponents and using its power to establish its own agenda.
