On Tuesday's episode of "Morning Joe," host Joe Scarborough of MSNBC expressed his belief that the political ideology of the American right wing bears no similarity to the teachings of Jesus Christ found in the Bible.
Read the red letters and the Gospels, read what Jesus truly taught, Scarborough urged his listeners, not just for politics but for life.
He went on, What you will see over and over again is that Jesus is talking about Matthew 25:31–46, where the disciples ask what they need to do to get to heaven: give a cup of water to the thirsty, clothe the naked, feed the hungry, and give hope to the hopeless. You are free to proceed. It discusses forgiving others and offering an alternative cheek, despite the fact that a member of the Trump family has stated that this is unacceptable behavior. You have these folks who call themselves Christian Nationalists, but in reality, they are the ones who have developed this civic, this religion, this political religious ideology that has absolutely nothing in common with the teachings of Jesus.
Scarborough continued by saying, And if I'm upsetting somebody, it's just because they haven't read the Bible. They simply tilt it to the side and use it as a shield to protect their political opinions. Instead of their faith having an influence on their politics, politics has an influence on their faith.
