Liz Cheney And Kamala Harris Blunders Bolster Trump’s Path To 2024 Victory

After the spectacular crash and burn of Kamala Harris, Liz Cheney finds herself in an interesting spot—primarily because her vocal crusade against Donald Trump and her ostensible commitment to “democracy” have yielded nothing of substance. In fact, the left is scrambling to distance themselves from her, particularly after some Democrats have pinned the blame for their dismal 2024 prospects on Cheney, a figure whose ties to warmongering run deep, thanks to her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, and the infamous Iraq War.

Adding to the chaos, far-left Minnesota lawmaker Ilhan Omar has openly criticized the Democrats for getting chummy with Cheney, declaring the alliance a colossal blunder. Omar’s pointed observation is that Cheney’s name has become almost synonymous with war for her generation and younger ones. This raises eyebrows about what slightly befuddled Democrats were thinking, especially when it comes to appealing to Arab and Muslim voters in crucial battlegrounds like Michigan.

The “Cheney misstep” she refers to is like a gift that keeps on giving for conservatives. In an interview, Omar laid out the inconvenient truth that aligning with Liz Cheney was tantamount to declaring war on certain voter bases. It strikes one as ironic that a party so dedicated to promoting inclusivity hitched its wagon to a Cheney—someone whose legacy could alienate a significant demographic. Clearly, the political calculations in this alliance were anything but shrewd.

There was a moment of misplaced hope among Harris’s camp that Cheney could reel in those disenchanted Republicans who turned their backs on Trump. However, reality had other plans; the actual Cheneys in the voting booth turned out to be a ghostly apparition. Trump soared to a resounding re-election victory, boasting the best numbers any Republican had seen in generations. Perhaps Harris and her advisors should recognize that not all attempts to bring Never-Trumpers back into the fold have the effect they desire.

The Cheney and Harris partnership is a stark departure from the frequency with which the left has historically vilified the Cheney-Bush establishment. After the January 6 Capitol incident, Cheney became a darling to many on the left for her unabashed criticisms of Trump. However, this newfound fame came at a cost, as her anti-Trump stance ignited a fierce backlash from those on the right, resulting in her ousting from Congress. While Republicans continue to unite around Trump, Liz Cheney finds herself increasingly isolated.

As Trump taps into the simmering anger surrounding the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, he managed to win over voters in an area like Dearborn, Michigan, which boasts one of the largest Muslim populations in the U.S. Even Omar grudgingly acknowledged Trump’s effectiveness in personally engaging with community leaders—a gesture that Harris apparently, and shockingly, failed to replicate. With a newly fired-up base and approval ratings spiking, Trump is gearing up for what looks like an inevitable second term. For Cheney, the road ahead is looking all too clear: read it and weep.
