The corporate overlords at McDonald’s have issued a rather curious memo, leaving many wondering if they’ve succumbed to the political correctness swirling in our fast-food lanes. Apparently, they can’t verify whether Vice President Kamala Harris ever flipped burgers under the Golden Arches because their record-keeping hasn’t survived the test of time. This revelation comes on the heels of former President Donald Trump jokingly asserting that he has now served a whopping 15 minutes longer at McDonald’s than Kamala Harris ever did. It’s a classic case of fast-food banter, but one that has peeled back the onion on Harris’s somewhat murky past.
Back in August, the Washington Free Beacon went on a bit of detective work, scouring for evidence of Harris’s claim that she worked at a McDonald’s in Alameda, California in the summer of 1983. Unsurprisingly, they came up empty. No pay stubs, no pictures, and not a single employee from that era could back up what has now become a suspect narrative. The only time Harris has mentioned this alleged employment was during her 2019 presidential campaign, as though she had long since decided she needed a “working-class” cred badge to win over the voters.
Haha this was one of my favorite videos of Trump working at McDonald's yesterday 😂

As her campaign story evolved, the narrative took quite the detour. First, she claimed her fast-food gig was to help pay for law school, but it later shifted to a casual money-making venture to cover a few lattes and Amazon treats. This raises eyebrows, considering that if one’s McDonald’s experience is so pivotal to their character, they’d likely mention it more than in just one passing remark during a labor rally.
Adding to the intrigue, her memoir, “The Truths We Hold,” which supposedly dives deep into her struggles and the working-class experience, conveniently skips over her time at the burger chain. It’s almost as though she has forgotten that one in eight Americans have donned the beloved McDonald’s uniform. Instead of leaning on this crucial connection to the average American, she detailed other hardships, leaving some to ponder if she might just prefer the optics of polished, elitist stories more befitting of her political stature.
Even more baffling is the fact that during her moment to shine at the Democratic National Convention—an event filled with potential to tout her roots—she chose to sidestep any mention of her alleged burger-flipping days. This absence of attempted relatability raises a red flag. If she really believed this experience shaped her career, wouldn’t it have been the perfect opportunity to share her not-so-sizzling story?
McDonald’s, while attempting to remain politically neutral, has played both sides in this burger battle. Their memo not only acknowledged Trump’s affinity for the franchise but also offered a nod to Harris’s supposed history. McDonald’s employees everywhere are now left with the understanding that while the drive-thru may be open for everyone, Harris’s claims about serving fries remain shrouded in mystery. Only time will tell if these fast-food tall tales will continue to fry under the heat of scrutiny.
