The failed mutiny led by Yevgeny Prigozhin against Vladimir Putin in Russia has left many scratching their heads. Even after declaring a march for justice, it seems as though this rebellion will not happen anytime soon. Prigozhin, the owner of the Wagner Group military company, revealed that in the midst of their march, they walked almost 200 km away from Moscow without shedding blood of any fighters; however, they may have to do so if they continued with the rebellion. With this, they have decided to turn back their convoys and return to field camps according to the plan.
Former supporter of Prigozhin about alleged agreement between Prigozhin and Russian authorities:
"Now it's finally allowed to say the three things he's been promised. 1. Shoigu's resignation. 2. Amnesty for "musicians" [Wagner mercenaries]. 3. The possibility to return to… pic.twitter.com/FMPiq1vUR1

Some might say that Prigozhin and his army failed, as overthrowing Putin could be more challenging than they anticipated. But others believe Putin realizes he made a catastrophic error in the war in Ukraine and has made Prigozhin an offer he couldn’t refuse to put an end to the conflict. Despite Putin’s actions, war is an unfortunate occurrence resulting in men losing their lives in the crossfire.
What’s next for Putin and the groupings in Russia remains unclear. Although some believe that Putin agreed to fire the Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, in exchange for Prigozhin’s agreement to stop his military shenanigans. But, at this point, one thing is clear; war is horrifying, and no one wins in these situations. Let’s hope that peace prevails in Russia and the world, and there is no loss of blood.
